MOST OF THE OBSTACLES TO SUCCESS IN THE CIVIL SERVICES EXAMINATION ARE SELF-CREATED

Friends! Ignorance, assumptions, shortsightedness, low morale are the reasons why we fall behind in competitive examinations. Of course, if the vision is clear and the effort is continuous, then every goal can be achieved. Today we are examining the reasons why our students are not achieving sufficient success in the Civil Services Examination: The biggest complaint of the people responsible for our society regarding the Civil Services Examination is that there is no ‘U’ turn or no way back in this examination. That is, our youth and (more than them) parents are afraid that

(a) Even after thorough 2 preparation, if they do not qualify in the examination?

(b) What next? There is only a dead end that goes nowhere

(c) We will be anywhere, so instead of dreaming big, it is ‘safe’ to take traditional courses and adopt a traditional career in the traditional way.

In fact, most of our youth do not know their potential. Some tend to jump towards tests, they cannot fully understand even there, so they do not have the courage to participate in competitive examinations. I would like to tell our students and parents that the civil services examination in every country is designed in such a way that even participating in that examination is beneficial. The goal is to prepare such officers through this examination who have a thorough knowledge of all the sciences related to life because ultimately the entire system of the country is to be handed over to them. Politicians do not know anything about all those systems, there are bureaucrats who have passed the civil services who decide all the policies, those bureaucrats always keep in mind the political interests of the party in power. Therefore, how important is participation in exams? See:

(a) Even if a student fails despite immense preparation, it will be the last exam in which he failed, after that he can never fail.

(b) Going forward, even in a big company, even an HRD manager will hesitate to interview a young person who has swum through an ocean of Knowledge.

(c) If our failed students writes ‘UPSC attempted’ in his profile or biodata, it also makes sense.

Now, as far as ‘U-turn’ (or return) is concerned, then in this regard, our youth should think that why will the U-turn come? Students who work hard in the right direction are achieving success every year, I will also be one of them, this thought should always prevail in the mind of every student. Of course, if God forbid, the desired success is not achieved, then the career path can be started even after reaching the preliminary examination or the main examination. Of course, I would like to tell the students something more than this because we sincerely want our students to fulfill their dreams of achieving success in the civil services and not leave their journey incomplete because merely obtaining material benefits should not be the goal of this career, but it is important to reach the final destination of the civil services and play a decisive role in the development of the community and the Nation.

The great success of our students in the Civil Services Examination is not being achieved because not all our students are able to get admission in government coaching institutes, so they have to turn to private institutes and unfortunately almost all our charitable institutions are currently immersed in the ‘worry’ of whether to help our students in Civil Services coaching or not. The community looks at every student who expresses his desire to participate in the Civil Services Examination with suspicious eyes. For this project, where we should have had four to six dozen institutes, we have this number not more than half a dozen.  Due to the lack of proper guidance in the Civil Services Examination, our students make the biggest mistake in choosing their subjects in graduation. In fact, they should choose the subject for graduation which they will later choose for the main Civil Services Examination. Since a large majority of our students are hesitant about whether to appear in the Civil Services Examination or not, they do not plan in advance. They have to understand that the three years after graduation are the most crucial period of preparation for UPSC. For example, if a student is graduating with a History subject, his plan should be to expand his canvas at least 100 times the BA History syllabus and prepare thoroughly for every period from MohenjoDaro Harappa to CAA, NRC and the present period of finding a temple in the basement of a mosque. A major shortcoming of our students in preparing for the Civil Services Examination is that they do not take their own notes seriously. What should happen is that:

(a) You should spend at least an hour every day on current affairs and prepare your own notes on them (we will discuss in detail what is meant by ‘our’ notes and what their form and format should be some time later)

(b) Worrying about current affairs is no small task. For that, you should keep a close eye on daily newspapers, editorials, special articles and commentaries. This goal cannot be achieved by just taking a cursory look at electronic and social media.

Youth! There is no shortcut to studying current affairs from every angle. Of course, this task is not difficult, it just requires hard work. Every year, when the results of the Civil Services Examination are announced, comments start on the neighborhoods and electronic chat rooms. It is a bitter truth that most of the commentators are not even familiar with the basics of these competitive examinations and then when they comment on the results, they end up bringing up the story of discrimination on that our community’s students achieve outstanding success in the prelims and mains examinations, of course, they do injustice to our students by seeing their beards, caps or hijabs during the interview. In this regard, someone should ask them
