IF PARENTS AND TEACHERS WAKE UP, THE COUNTRY’S EDUCATION SYSTEM CAN BE SAVED FROM FURTHER DESTRUCTION!

The education system of this country used to be a triangle: students, teachers and parents. This triangle was then joined by another side and angle and that was the management of the educational institution. The triangular system of students, teachers and parents may be running smoothly, but how positive is the attitude of the administrators of the institution in its management or does the administration have any agenda of its own? Another side and angle was joined in the square education system and that was society! Its role became important in terms of how much the role of society in the education system is on the right track. Everything going well and suddenly it is found that 5 students of the school cannot even buy uniforms and books. On that, the society either becomes somewhat active or remains indifferent or, suppose, the school wall suddenly collapses. What is the attitude of society now? The president or secretary of the administration is held responsible and the situation is ignored, or some member of the society announces that he will come forward to pay ten bags of cement, some 100 bricks and some ready to pay the wages. After the element of society was added, the education system became a pentagon. Everything was fine up to this point, but a sixth element was added to that pentagon and thus our education system became a hexagon. Of course, this side and angle is proving to be the most dangerous and its name is: the government. Yes, since the element of the name government was added to this education system, the entire system has been turned upside down. No matter how great the students may aspire to be, teachers may use all their creative and innovative abilities, parents may discharge their responsibilities well, and society may prove its full awakening, a Government Order (GR) comes and all the plans remain stagnant. In this regard, several examples can be given:

(1) The teacher has always had a high and exalted position in all educational and social systems 3 around the world. Our Prophet had called himself a teacher instead of calling himself a guide, a leader, etc. The dignity of a teacher is evident from this. The terms Guru, Gurukul, Guru Dakshina are also common in other religions. We have seen in stories and pictures that kings and maharajas have uplifted the shoes of their Gurus or Ustads. When the government educationists decided to please the students and parents instead of the teachers, an order was issued that teachers should beware of anything that would cause mental stress in the students. The strange thing is that all these government educationists could not define ‘mental stress’. Along with the parents, the students also enjoyed this failure as scolding for not doing homework, admonishing for being absent, and even expressing disapproval for any misbehavior by the teachers were proven to cause mental stress in the students. The so-called government element of the educational system announced with great severity that teach history, geography, science, and arithmetic in schools and get out. Do not waste time teaching ethics, discipline, order, etc., otherwise you will not be able to escape the clutches of the law. Unfortunately, the parents accepted this order willingly.

(2) Due to the government’s unnecessary, absurd and pointless interference in the country’s education system, a new policy was implemented in 2009 that no exams would be conducted till the eighth grade. In this regard, government education experts came up with a far-fetched argument that exams are the root of all evils and that exams create mental stress among students. We have continuously discussed these foolish arguments in our columns that

(3) Before formulating the hollow policy of Right to Education, government ‘educationists’ forgot this key point that is the foundation of any system: accountability!

Now it has become common for teachers to write their own performance, what they did in the classroom. So, every day, teachers filled diaries to write their performance and verify it themselves, and in this way, good certified, degree-winning and some insightful teachers became full-time clerks. The funny thing is that teachers were given about 300 sentences to write their performance in a diary. Those sentences were: the student is improving, the student is showing signs of improvement, the student will improve, the student is moving towards improvement, etc. Yes! Sentences of all times about the student’s performance – past, present and future! Yes, this government missionary has considered teachers to be so stupid that they cannot guess what is happening in the student. Therefore, they have been filled to the brim with a few ready-made sentences.

(4) The major loss due to the association of politics or government with the education system was that the journey of complete privatization of education began and thus the rich people were allowed to open educational institutions. The only mantra of which was that whoever has money should study, everyone else should forget about higher education. In this way, shops and factories were opened in the name of colleges, especially engineering, pharmacy, etc. First, the quality of most of them was poor and secondly, the supply started exceeding the demand and factories of only degree-holding engineers were opened in lakhs and then they started appearing everywhere except in their field. So engineers started appearing in queues to become bank clerks and were seen delivering pizza and pasta and some even joined politicians and joined their party’s IT cell, making a mockery of democracy and moral values and making ill-gotten gains from it. In this way, a large number of graduated engineers fell victim to extreme disappointment, frustration and depression. Why has our education system deteriorated to such a level that it is also distributing the gift of anxiety, frustration and depression to the students along with degrees???
